Southern Adirondacks Loop

Route Description

Connect to this route in Speculator on the shores of Lake Pleasant via Route 30 and head southwest on Route 10 passing along Lake Pleasant and the eastern shore of Piseco Lake south toward Arietta. This route features a mixture of classic Adirondack attractions and wilderness routes. Around Canada Lake, the Pinnacle Restaurant & Motel is a great place to stop for a bite to eat before continuing on to Route 112 and 125 toward the village of Northville, home of Lapland Lake Nordic Vacation Center, local craft stores and museums, as well as a plethora of community events.

From Northville, head south on Route 30, wrapping around Great Sacandaga Lake. Sport Island Pub is located on Riverside Boulevard for refreshment. At the southern tip of the lake, head for Route 110 north to drive along the eastern edge of the lake toward Hadley and Lake Luzerne. In Hadley, make a pit stop at Rockwell Falls, the War Memorial, and the Schoolhouse Museum in Lake Luzerne. Spend the night at the Lamplight Inn Bed & Breakfast, or continue on to the village of Lake George.

One of the most popular destinations in the Adirondacks, Lake George Village offers an array of dining and shopping, including beverage trail tours and the Great Escape & Splashwater Kingdom.

Enjoy any number of activities in Lake George, including the annual Americade Motorcycle Festival, before driving north along Route 9N toward Bolton Landing and Hague. In Hague, visit the Clifton West Museum, Pharaoh Lake Wilderness and Hague Brook Falls. Connect to Route 8 west toward Brant Lake and Chestertown for a select number of classic Adirondack lodging options, including the luxurious Fern Lodge.

Stop in Johnsburg and visit Gore Mountain and the vibrant downtown of North Creek before hitting the road for the homestretch back to Speculator.
